Ode to the hard stuff

We talk about and reminisce the fun stuff.

The happy times in relationship.
With a friend. With a lover. With a manager.
Conversation that just flows.
Music that instantly resonates.
When you feel like you belong.
When you feel loved.
What feels easy. Effortless.
We don't speak enough about the hard stuff.
Getting out there looking for a job.
A dream job. Or a job for sustenance.
Getting rejected at an interview.
Being passed up for promotion.
Being fired from or laid off at work.
Feeling betrayed by your manager.
We don't speak enough about the hard stuff.
Taking your ideas into the world.
Finding out they suck.
Asking for money. From an investor. A friend.
Admitting you screwed up.
Not being able to return the money.
We don't speak enough about the hard stuff.
Opening up your heart.
Having it crushed into a million pieces.
Having to let down love you cannot quite requite.
Having to let go of a relationship that isn't working for you.
A breakup. A breakup of a long-term relationship.
We don't speak enough about the hard stuff.
Dealing with sickness. Your own.
Having to care for a sick loved one.
Not being around to care for a sick loved one.
The death of a loved one.
The sudden, unexpected death of a friend.
We don't speak enough about the hard stuff.
Daring to dare. Acknowledging the hard.
Rejecting the "supposed to".
Having the tough conversations.
Standing up for what you believe is right.
We don't speak enough about the hard stuff.
Breaking down. Building up.
Feeling shameful, rejected, unworthy.
Feeling defeated, helpless, laden with despair.
Feeling lonely.
We don't speak enough about the hard stuff.
Talking about the hard stuff is hard stuff.
When you're gasping for air. Especially during the time.
Doing so requires honesty. Vulnerability.
When you don't know what to expect.
Maybe you'd be kicked to the curb.
Maybe you'd be shamed further.
What's inside the kimono is meant to be inside. This is an ode to the hard stuff.
The ones that teach you about yourself.
The ones that help you grow.
The ones that show you what to let go.
The ones that show you your strength.
That ones the expose your vulnerabilities.
Only if you are willing to see the truth.

Vidya.
